Everybody is feeling it nowadays.  You are either going through it or can see it on the horizon.  You know what I'm talking about.  The "C" word.  Change. 

Humankind is undergoing a period of incredible change.  Many traditions believe we are shifting from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, and that change is bringing a whole new set of challenges and opportunities for us as a planet and a species. Right now we're in the cusp between the two ages...and the cusp can be a period of tremendous change, anxiety, and discomfort.

Change can be uncomfortable for the best of us.  Think of the snake, as it is molting and undergoing a period of tremendous transformation, its eyes become clouded over and the snake can no longer see.  It is blind.  It lashes out in anger and rage, snapping at anything that comes close.  Then as its skin sheds, it emerges from its old self with calm and poise, slithering out of its uncomfortable transition period into a more comfortable, expanded self.

Humans are like snakes in that during periods of transition and change, we become irritable, snappish and edgy.  We lash out at our loved ones, behave in irrational ways, and worry.  But we don't have to be this way. Change can be a beautiful and exciting time.  We can look to an uncertain future with courage and a spirit of adventure.

There is a mantra to help us move from fear of change to boldness and courage.  It removes feeling of anxiety, depression and phobias, leaving in its place courage and victory.  Just like the snake leaves behind its old skin.

Try this mantra for fear of change:

Chattr chakkr vartee, chattr chakkr bhugatay

Suyumbhav subhang sarab daa sarab jugtay

Dukaalang pranaasee dayaalang saroopay

Sadaa ung sungay abhangang bibhootay

These words were written by the warrior saint Guru Gobind Singh and bring victory during changing times! Chant along with a recording or keep it playing in your house!

10-15 Perfect Fresh Figs
1/2 cup Milk
1 Tbsp. Saffron
One clean syringe, available at cooking shops or pharmacies (without the needle)

Soak Saffron overnight in milk. In the morning blend milk and saffron until smooth. Carefully wash figs. Draw milk and saffron into syringe and inject the "nectar" into the figs. Make as many as you like and store in the freezer.

Eat no more than three per day, morning, noon, and night.

Eyes: Eyes are closed. 

Time:11 to 31 Minutes

End: Stretch the hands up as far as possible and spread them wide. Stretch the spine and take several deep breaths. Relax.

Teacher's Notes & More Information: 
Loving is all about learning to give unconditionally, and this is a very important step, as it teaches us to recognize that everything comes from God and everything goes to God.

"Cause leads to effect; sequence leads to consequence. The Law of the Vacuum: Give to everybody, smile at everybody, pay attention. It will all come back to you. People give for the sake of giving, for the sake of the return, for the sake of public relations, for the sake of better relations. Giving is in our nature, but it is conditional. Those who can give unconditionally are those who feel that everything they have comes from God.

There needs to be X-amount of time, personality, self, projection, thinking and planning, which must be one-tenth of your totality, to guide you to the realm of yourself, your soul. Give to God what belongs to God: one-tenth of your time, belongings, income, thoughts, projection, communication, one-tenth of every act. Every act shall be a blessed act in which one-tenth belongs to God." - Yogi Bhajan

By practicing Kirtan Kriya, we begin to understand the cycle of creation. From the Infinite comes life, from life comes death or change. From death or change comes the re-birth of consciousness to the joy of the Infinite through which compassion leads back to life.

Complete Mantra: 
Sa Ta Na Ma

Translation: 
Saa = Infinity, totality of the Cosmos
Taa = Life (birth of form from the Infinity)
Naa = death (or transformation)
Maa = Rebirth

<content:encoded><![CDATA[A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. 
As they talked about life, about marriage, about the 
responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance 
upon her daughter.. 

'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. 
No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them..' 

'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women 
always do.' 

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought.. Haven't I just gotten married? 

Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a 
married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely 
my husband and the family we may start will be all I 
need to make my life worthwhile!' 

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact 
with her sisters and made more women friends each 
year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, 
she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.. 

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned: 

THIS SAYS IT ALL: 
Time passes. 
Life happens. 
Distance separates. 
Children grow up. 
Jobs come and go. 
Love waxes and wanes. 
Men don't do what they're supposed to do. 
Hearts break. 
Parents die. 
Colleagues forget favors. 
Careers end. 

BUT........... 
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how 
many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. 

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you 
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life 
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.. 

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk 
beside you...Or come in and carry you out. 

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family: all bless our life! 

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and 
neither would I. When we began this adventure called 
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or 
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we 
would need each other..

2,5 dl mungbönor, hela eller halverade
2,5 dl basmatiris
2,5 l vatten
2 stora gula lökar
3/4 dl skalad och hackad färsk ingefära
8-10 hackade eller pressade vitlöksklyftor
2 tsk gurkmeja
½ tsk svartpeppar
1 rågad tsk garam masala
1,5 tsk kummin - valfritt
lagerblad  - valfritt
1 tsk chilipulver - valfritt
5 öppnade kardemummakärnor eller 1 tsk malen kardemumma
olja till stekning

Blötlägg bönorna helst över natten om du använder hela bönor.
Koka bönorna i ca 20 min., lägg sedan i riset
Hacka löken, vitlöken och ingefäran
Mät kryddorna
Stek löken, vitlöken och ingefäran i oljan tills de är mjuka
Tillsätt kryddorna, sautera under omrörning
Häll i grytan
Koka på svag värme tills allt är mjukt

1 cup (250 ml) basmati rice
3 cups (750 ml) chopped mixed vegetables
¼ cup (60 ml) minced ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 small onions, finely chopped
½ cup (125 ml) ghee
1 ½ teaspoon crushed...]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[To sooth and strengthen the nervous system, and to please the palate, try this delicious curry.

1 cup (250 ml) basmati rice
3 cups (750 ml) chopped mixed vegetables
¼ cup (60 ml) minced ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 small onions, finely chopped
½ cup (125 ml) ghee
1 ½ teaspoon crushed yogi tea spices
1 Tablespoon (20 ml) turmeric
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 cup (250 ml) homemade yogurt
¼ cup (60 ml) garbanzo flour

Rinse the rice and add 3 cups water and bring to a boil. Simmer for approximately 45 minutes. Steam chopped mixed vegetables until firm but tender. Blend yogurt and garbanzo flour with 1 cup (250 ml) water until smooth. Saute’ spices in ghee until golden brown. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook slowly until onions are almost falling apart. Stir in yogurt-flour mixture. Simmer until sauce thickens. 


Serve over rice and steamed vegetables.

1-2 Cups of Milk
3 bananas (use 2 if they are large)
Nutmeg (Take 2 whole nutmegs, and grind them up fresh. Do not use powdered nutmeg from a jar.)
1 Fresh apple
Honey

3 bananas (use 2 if they are large)
Nutmeg (Take 2 whole nutmegs, and grind them up fresh. Do not use powdered nutmeg from a jar.)
1 Fresh apple
Honey
 
Blend all the above ingredients together. You can drink this mixture as a hot drink, but it can also be made into ice cream.

To make “Ice Cream” powdered cinnamon must be added to the above ingredients. Freeze and then eat.

Benefits: This recipe will keep a normal person young for a long time. Freshly ground nutmeg must be used, because non-fresh nutmeg is very intoxicating to the point that it can make you totally dizzy and you may not come out of it. The effects of the nutmeg can be quite heavy if taken straight. It will make you forget this world and the world to come after. Nutmeg, when used with banana, is a tonic. Nutmeg used without banana is just nutmeg and can even make you go crazy.

If you are a person who does not drink milk, you can substitute almond milk instead. Almond milk is very good in hot weather and can give you a lot of energy.

Därför införs nu medicinsk Yoga i rehabiliterings-programmet för hjärtpatienter på Danderyds sjukhus. Det är första gången i Norden.
Medicinsk Yoga innehåller lätta rörelser, djupandnings- och avslappningsövningar speciellt utvalda från KundaliniYogan för att passa patienter som genomgått en hjärtinfarkt. Djupandning är viktigt.

If our embodied sense of self is distorted, negative or unreal, there are many unwanted consequences... 

“Kundalini Yoga is one of the best ways to reset the body image and renew a positive relationship to your Self. Its potency to renew the body image comes from its emphasis on internal energy, mindful movement and the authentic self, combined with group practices, sangat (community) and seva (selfless service). There are many specific practices that address body image and our experience of it directly. As practitioners of Kundalini Yoga, it is important to clear and align our body image to our current reality. As teachers, it is an issue that we help students confront and transform as they learn to accept their bodies, explore its possibilities and add to their total body image the aura and subtle bodies. God fortsättning på ett fantastiskt 2010 - ett år som jag tror vi kommer att se tillbaka på som det året när yogan på allvar slog igenom i Sverige - Yogans År!

Året har börjat bra. Den 27/1 började Danderyds sjukhus som första sjukhus i Norden att införa Medicinsk Yoga/Kundaliniyoga som ordinarie behandlingsmetod vid rehabilitering av hjärtinfarktpatienter. Sjukhuset fortsätter också att forska på Medicinsk Yoga. Under 2010 undersöker vi yogans effekter på förmaksflimmer. Andra sjukhus och vårdcentraler kommer också att starta egna studier på Medicinsk Yoga under våren. Karolinska Institutet t.ex. startar en ny stor Ryggstudie på Medicinsk Yoga där IMY deltar.

Allt detta har redan börjat uppmärksammas i media. Radio, TV och flera stora tidningar har skrivit eller står i begrepp att skriva om detta och sjukhus över hela landet hör av sig till Danderyd för att få komma på studiebesök och lära sig mer om hjärtyoga.

På IMY har vi under 2008 och 2009 gett ut vår egen nättidning YogaNytt. Från 2010 byter den tidningen namn, till NMY eller Nätmagasinet Medicinsk Yoga och blir en blädderbar tidning på cirka 40 sidor som du fritt och enkelt kan ladda hem från IMYs hemsida. Där kan du läsa flera intressanta artiklar om hur yoga som medicin och terapi är på väg att etablera sig i Sverige. När du får upp tidningen på skärmen finns det en knapp nertill till vänster som heter FULL SCREEN som gör att tidningen täcker hela skärmen och blir mer lättläst..

The words, "I am, I am," mean that through thick and thin, through beauty and ugliness, through grace and insult, you will always walk as a graceful being. That is spirituality.
